Greetings to you all as we have now begun 2013.

What are your thoughts as you face the year ahead? Do you have doubts concerns on issues or events you know you’ll be facing this year? It could be uncertainty with work and lost jobs causing financial strain, marriage breakdowns, family issues or other situations. We don’t need to carry these burdens, as we are told in 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety (cares) on him because He cares for you.” This is our text chosen for this year. You don’t need to carry your worries, stresses and daily struggles by yourself, as this shows you haven’t trusted God fully with your life. It takes humility to recognise that God cares for you to admit your need and let others in God’s family help you. Sometimes we feel that struggles caused by our own sin and foolishness are not God’s concern, but when we turn to Him in repentance He will bear the weight of those struggles. Let God know these anxieties and submit them to the Lord who controls all circumstances.

Our precious Saviour is tremendously interested in all our sorrows and trials and He delights to have us pour out our hearts to Him when burdens press upon us and cares cause distress. Many of us cast our cares and troubles upon Him, but before we can arise from our knees we take them back again upon our shoulders and seek to choose our own path. This grieves our Lord. We need to take our burdens to Him and leave them there. Trust Him with your trials and He will bless you with His peace, because He cares for you.

We need to trust God as the giver of all life. He wants our faith to grow and shine forth as gold. God tests us for a good purpose, and for His glory, and this builds our faith. Don’t build your house on the sand, but make sure you have a firm foundation. Trust in the Lord.

As the term progresses we have been encouraged to hear of new prayer groups wanting to start, others continuing on, and all of us on the support team excited as we wait on God to see what He is going to do in our schools as we cover them in prayer.

Please feel free to contact any of us on team if you’d like us to visit your group, start a prayer group or want help in organising an area meeting with other schools in your area.

This year’s Prayer Day for Schools is to be on Fri 6th September at Scotch college school. More details will be in next newsletter, but mark in your diaries now, and plan to be there.

So when the day seems dark and trials seem too much for you, remember that God has promised that He will not lay on us more than we can bear. All we need to do is “Cast your cares on Him for He cares for you.”

Blessings to you all,
Marilyn Ford (PGS co-ordinator Vic)
