General Prayer Points

Not sure where to start or how to pray? Here’s a general list that will apply to most schools:

For Students

• Pray our kids know they are cared for and safe at school, and are able to settle and learn well
• Pray for our kids to see each others’ needs and see when other students are feeling left out or ignored
• Pray for students to make strong choices in the playground, and choose fun things (like playing sport) instead of weak choices that will get them into trouble
• Pray for safety and good health for all students

For Principals

• Being a principal is a heavy load. Please pray for strength and energy to get through each day
• Pray for safety and that they would be treated with respect. Many principals are at risk of resigning due to the abuse and mistreatment (sometimes from parents and students). This isn’t okay, as they should be safe and respected at work!
• Pray for wisdom to make good decisions
• Pray they would be able to find joy in each day, and that we as christians would know the right ways to support and encourage them (and stick up for them!)

For Teachers

• Pray for Joy and hope in their work, and that they would be able to enjoy seeing their students learn and grow
• Pray for energy and that they wouldn’t be drowned in paperwork, but would be able to see their own families and have time to rest too
• Pray for physical energy and good health to be able to not just survive but thrive in their roles
• Pray that all the teachers would know that the admin staff and parents have their back and support them (and that parents and admin staff would actually be supportive and helpful!)

For Chaplains

• Pray that they would have wisdom as they listen and support families through hard and sad things
• Pray for local churches etc to support them so they are able to help in practical ways (giving out meals etc)
• Pray that they would have the right words to say to encourage and support staff and parents as appropriate

For Parents

• Pray for parents to have wisdom in when to let their kids have freedom and when to put in rules and boundaries
• Pray for parents to truly care about their kids and be able to appreciate them as they grow, in spite of whatever circumstances parents and families may be facing
• Pray for parents as they work to support and care for their families, and raise their kids as best they can - that they would have the resources and support they need to do so
